Two Shawnee County tornado sirens will be retested Tuesday.
Shawnee County Emergency Management Director Dave Sterbenz says he received reports that a siren at SE 6th and Deer Creek Trafficway didn't go off in testing Monday. In addition, he was told the siren near Our Lady of Guadelupe Church at 134 NE Lake went off, but wasn't very loud.
Sterbenz says he'll check both Tuesda for any issues.
The two are among 72 emergency sirens Shawnee County has. Monday's problems are the lastest in a series of issues for the county's sirens. None went off in a test April 21st. The following week, a dozen stayed silent again. Investigations of those failures revealed a problem in the sirens' triggering mechanism.
