WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A new report shows Kansas farm families saw their income more than double last year thanks to good fall crops and soaring commodity prices.
The Kansas Farm Management Association says average net farm income in Kansas last year was $115,035. That compared with a statewide average of $46,593 the previous year.
Kansas State University professor Michael Langemeier says he knew western Kansas was going to be pretty high, but he was was surprised by how high it was - particularly in northwest Kansas.
The average farm income in northwest Kansas quadrupled from a year ago to $233,000.
