Local law enforcement are asking for the help of the community to keep underage kids from drinking.
The Topeka Police Department, Shawnee County Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Department of Revenue Alcoholic Beverage Control teamed up Wednesday to discuss how the community can help. They're reaching out to parents, liquor stores, motels and other community members.
Shawnee County District Attorney Robert Hecht says underage drinking can lead to horrible tragedies, and adults must do their part to protect young people.
Law enforcement agencies will have special patrols watching for underage drinking and underage liquor sales.
