A family says good-bye to the man they called father, son, and brother.
25-year-old David Wakes was shot to death inside his car last Sunday, his family nearly a week later held a funeral for the young man.
David's family describes him as a giving man and a wonderful father, “He was my best friend...best friend til the end,” only family member said.
Hundreds lined up just to get into Truevine Missionary Baptist Church this morning to pay their respects to David's family.
“I think a lot of them wanted to reach out and say we feel what you're going through. We wish it would stop and just give us their support,” said a friend.
David's son reminds them that his dad is very much still a part of all of them. The Wakes family has set up a memorial fund through Bank Of America of Kansas.
David was shot to death inside his car last Sunday. So far no arrests have been made.
