Special Olympians Compete in Track and Field

Volunteers from all over Northeast Kansas gathered Saturday to cheer on some special athletes.

Volunteers were timing races and recording scores among other duties at the Kansas Special Olympics, held at Shawnee Heights High School

Nearly 600 Special Olympic Athletes competed in the Track and Field competition.

The Special Olympics is the world's largest organization dedicated to providing year round sports training and competition to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
