It's hard to pick up the pieces after a disaster but Monday some volunteers were helping to make that process a little bit easier.
Volunteers at the Target Distribution Center in Topeka helped the red cross prepare for emergencies by assembling comfort kits for use in national disasters.
Its a national effort to put kits together. Items in the kit are bought by Target from its vendors and donated to the American Red Cross.
Last year the distribution center put together 8000 kits for 14 red cross chapters.
