Authorities say a body pulled from the Kansas River in Kansas City, Kansas Monday morning appears to be that of a man who fell into the river just over a week ago.
26-year old Shaun Shaw of DeSoto went missing April 19th when his canoe tipped over near Eudora. He was out hunting mushrooms with two other men when the accident happened.
Workers from Kaw Valley Sand spotted the body just after 8:30 am Monday near 78th and Holiday Drive in Kansas City, Kansas. Detectives from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and a Coroner Scene Investigator were called to the scene. They say details found at the scene allowed them to tentatively identify the body as Shaw. Shaw's brother, Michael, says the family was told the person found had a tattoo like Shaun had, and was wearing pants like Shaun had on when he disappeared.
The body will be taken to the coroner’s office for examination.
