GREENSBURG, Kan. (AP) _ A 46-year-old Macksville police officer who died after being injured in the storm system that spawned the Greensburg tornado will be honored at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
Tim Buckman was on his way to warn rural residents east of Macksville about the storm on May 4, 2007, when a tornado swept up his squad car and flung it 300 yards into a field.
Another tornado destroyed most of Greensburg. Buckman died of his injuries at the hospital on May 8.
His name is one of 358 being added to the national memorial dedicated to fallen officers in Washington.
His family already plans to spend two days in Topeka for the Kansas Law Enforcement Memorial service.
