EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) _ Kansas has seen its share of big athletic winners this year.
Now, the Sunflower State is home to yet another national title.
Emporia State University graduate student Alfred Najem has captured the U.S. college ping-pong men's singles crown at the 2008 National Collegiate Table Tennis tournament.
The 24-year-old Najem on Thursday said his mother taught him how to play when he was a child in Lebanon. And he credits his best move, a backhand slap shot, to his success.
Najem will graduate next year with a Master's Degree in Business Administration, and he plans to defend his title as well.
