Two Suspected Church Arsons Continued to be Investigated

The Topeka Fire Department continues to investigate two local church fires, both suspected to be arson.

Hillside Church burned in May 2006, while Saint David's burned in November that same year.

The Fire Department says every fire investigation is different, and even one seemingly inconsequential clue could be the key break in the case they are looking for.

They say working any arson case is difficult.

"Any fire we have in our community is a tragedy, let's start there. And when we find out we've had someone to what we believe intentionally started the fire, well that's a little harder to digest, because we think, 'why would someone want to do that?' " said Greg Bailey of the Topeka Fire Department.

If you have any information on either of these cases, call the Fire Tip line at 368-2488.
