Artwork and music mark Earth Day in the Capital City.

Environmental artist Stan Herd, along with Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson and KDHE Secretary Rod Bremby, will dedicate a special collage on the ice rink at Landon Arena in the Kansas Expocentre Tuesday. The 80- by 110-foot work will be created from 20,000 pieces Kansas students have created over the years. They were all submitted as part of the "Kansas - Don't Spoil It" calendar contest.

The public is invited to see the collage from 9:30 am to 2 pm Tuesday, April 22nd, at Landon Arena.

Tuesday night, people can enjoy Earth Day with a concert at Gage Park.

"Eco-Troubadour" Stan Slaughter will be featured. Slaughter is also known as the "Recycle and Compost Guy." His performances are at 4:30 and 6 pm. Other dancing, drumming and drama activities will take place from 3 to 7 pm. The event will be held at the Gage Park Ampitheater.
