A new committee will help Topeka's 501 School Board work on a five-year plan to expand its early education programs.
The Early Childhood Education Task Force recommended the committee at Thursday's board meeting. It passed 6-to-1.
It was not without controversy however.
Some said 501 should be focusing on children in the district now. Betty Horton proposed several task forces to work with various groups -- it failed 5-to-2.
Funding has not been discussed, the plan will be presented this August.
