Lottery Sets Dates to Hear from Casino Applicants

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ The Kansas Lottery Commission will hear next month from applicants wanting to operate four state-owned casinos.

There are 12 applicants in the running. The commission will hear from 11 on May 19-20.

It could decide then which contracts to forward to the Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board. The board will decide which applicants will get the four contracts to operate the casinos.

The commission has until May 27 to decide on the 11 contracts. It must decide by May 5 on whether to accept a contract with Penn National Gaming in southeast Kansas.
