A Kansas State University student is dead after falling off of a balcony on campus Saturday morning.

The student has now been identified as Joshua David Walker a 19-year-old freshman in pre-professional business administration from Johnson.

K-State University Police report that in the morning hours of Saturday they responded to a call reporting that a K-State student had fallen from a balcony at the University's Jardine Apartment Complex.

Walker was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. He was flown to a Wichita area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police say that Walker was on a 2nd floor balcony when he fell around 1AM Saturday morning. He is reported to be a guest of the apartment and lived off campus.

The cause of death is being investigated by the K-State Police Department. The police will not confirm if this accident was accidental or if foul play is being considered, we also don't know if alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Jardine staff has been meeting with residents of the apartment complex and K-State also has made counseling available.
