Some locals pulled out the sheers and said good-bye to their hair in and effort to raise money for children's cancer research Saturday.
World Cup Espresso Cafe in Topeka teamed up with its customers to participate in a fund raiser put on by the St. Baldrick's Foundation. The foundation raises money for children's cancer research by getting participants to commit to shaving their heads.
Participants encourage friends and community members to make them shave their heads by donating money.
As a group, World Cup and its customers raised nearly $1500 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
Since its inception in 2000, over 46,000 shavees, including more than 3,000 women have shaved their heads at more than 1,200 events, raising over $34 million dollars.
