The heavily traveled link between I-70 and Hummer Sports Park in Topeka is getting a major makeover.
The Kansas Department of Transportation and City of Topeka are working together on the project. Crews began phase one of the MacVicar widening project Monday. This first phase will add two southbound lanes, and the beginning of the turn lane to 6th and the sports park.
By the summer of next year, the $4 million project will offer motorists a brand new, five-lane MacVicar entrance to the city.
