Wichita Man Guilty of Shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A jury found a Wichita man guilty of second degree murder Friday in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man last year.

Sedgwick County District Court Judge Ben Burgess will sentence Michael Bates on May 1st.

Brandon Miller died in February 2007 after what prosecutors say he thought would be an argument settled in a fight.

Bates' lawyers say Miller had threatened Bates for weeks saying Bates fired his gun in self-defense.

Court documents say Miller wanted money from Bates to help a friend.

Miller was found with his leg sticking out of a car parked on the side of a road.
