Negotiators began talking Tuesday. They're confident of getting a compromise because the majority of legislators want to pass a bill
dealing with the issue. Negotiators say there are more similarities than differences in the bills.
One area of concern is the Senate bill's provision establishing specific amounts of bail for illegal immigrants arrested for crimes. Some fear that will increase the number of jail inmates, which will cost counties additional money.
