No charges are filed yet in a fatal shooting in Emporia over the weekend.
13 News radio partner KVOE reports Lyon County Sheriff Gary Eichorn says his department is still working on the affidavit regarding the shooting death of 50-year-old Alfonso Barajas. Eichorn says he has asked Lyon County Attorney Marc Goodman to file involuntary manslaughter charges in the case.
Eichorn says the man accused was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. He will not release his name until later. Eichorn says the man was going to fire a rifle at a bird, and Barajas, sitting at the time, stood up and was struck by a bullet in the forehead.
An autopsy has been performed. The results, along with other testing, were to be part of the investigation.
