The hard work of farmers and ranchers statewide was honored on the first day of Spring.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius signed a proclamation declaring March 20th "Kansas Agriculture Day."
The occasion brought many agricultural groups to the rotunda to share displays of their work and contributions to the state.
Several younger people were on hand, too. Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson awarded winners of the Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the classroom 2008 postcard art contest. Agriculture Secretary Adrian Polansky later presented the winners with U.S. savings bonds.
