Fire Turns Fatal in Manhattan

One person was killed and two others injured in an early morning house fire Wednesday morning.

Manhattan fire officials say a home at 530 Yuma in Manhattan caught fire shortly before 2:00 a.m. this morning.

Dennis Hicks was killed in the early morning fire and the two who were injured were flown to Via Christi hospital in Wichita for treatment.

One firefighter also substained a minor shoulder injury while fighting the blaze, but has since been treated and released.

Fire officials say the fire apparently started in a basement apartment but no official cause is determined yet.

Officials describe the structure as a total loss.
