Topeka Issues Stream Advisory

The city has issued a health advisory along the Wanamaker tributary beginning south of the Wanamaker Pump Station, located northwest of 10th Street and Wanamaker Rd. and south of I-70, following the rupture of an 18-inch force main.

The breach was discovered Tuesday morning. Contractors will begin excavating to locate the line and make the necessary repairs.

At this time, raw sewage is being pumped through the line.

The public and their pets are advised to stay away from the channel beggining at the pump station and extending to the Kansas River.

The advisory remains in effect until furthur notice.
