TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ The House advances a bill supporters say will lead to better enforcement of restrictions on late-term abortions.
The bill was approved Monday on a voice vote. It also requires women to receive more information about the fetus and the procedure before having an abortion.
The sponsor, Republican Lance Kinzer of Olathe, said the bill also addresses the problem of underage women who are coerced into having an abortion.
Opponents said the bill is too wide-ranging. They urged support of another measure they say would result in better enforcement.
