A special honor from our current governor to a former governor of the state of Kansas.
Governor Kathleen Sebelius presented a certificate to represent the 25 year pin to Wildlife and Parks Secretary Mike Hayden for his years of service to the state.
"There is no greater calling than public service and there is no better place to do it than in Kansas. I spent a decade in Washington but it was awful easy to come back home," Hayden said Thursday.
Hayden served as Speaker of The House of Representatives from '83 to '87 following that he served as governor until 1991 until he was defeated by Joan Finney.
