(WIBW) - The Kansas Chamber of Commerce's Politcal Action Committee is throwing its weight behind Sen. Sam Brownback for governor.
The Kansas Chamber PAC officially endorsed the Republican ticket Friday. They said Brownback and his running mate Jeff Colyer have a pro-jobs plan to stimulate the economy.
"They are proponents for low taxes and smart regulations that will grow Kansas businesses and help Kansas consumers," said Kansas Chamber President and CEO Kent Beisner. "In these tough times, Kansas needs a governor and lieutenant governor who understand the solution to the state's financial difficulties is to grow the Kansas economy."
Brownback's main opponent in November is Democrat Tom Holland. A spokesperson for Holland dismissed the endorsement, saying the chamber has emerged as a right wing lobbying group focused on cutting school funding, opposing new transportation jobs and electing Brownback.
“Will Sam Brownback have the political courage to tell the State Chamber that they were wrong on schools, wrong on transportation and wrong to compare disabled Kansans to pigs at a trough? Or will he tell them that if he’s elected, the days of moderate leadership in the Governor’s office are over – and the lobbyists in the Kansas Chamber of Commerce can have whatever they want," said Holland spokesperson, Seth Bundy.
