LAWRENCE, Kan. (Release) -- This morning at 8:45 a.m. Lawrence Police Officers responded to the report of a shooting inside a home in the 1600 block of West 2nd Terrace. Upon arrival officers and medical personnel determined an adult inside the home was deceased.
A male subject at the home was immediately detained by officers and questioned about the incident. It was determined the male subject has a domestic relationship with the victim, whose identity is not being released by the Lawrence Police Department.
The subject was transported to Lawrence Police Department's Investigations and Training Center where he was interviewed. At the conclusion of the interview, he was placed under arrest for Murder in the First Degree and transported to the Douglas County Jail.
An affidavit has been prepared by investigators and will be forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for formal charging, which will likely occur tomorrow.
