(CNN) -- At least five people were killed and 37 wounded in a suicide blast in Pakistan's Balochistan province on Tuesday night, police said.
Police said the bomber blew himself up near a military checkpoint. Around a dozen shops and two houses were also destroyed. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Pakistan, which has a strong presence of militants near the Afghan border and other parts of the country, has been engulfed in violence. The attack comes as the nation gets ready for elections next month.
