(CNN) -- A roadside bomb killed a family of nine in western Afghanistan on Tuesday afternoon, blasting the rickshaw they were riding in, police said.
The blast killed five children and four adults in Afghanistan's Herat province, provincial police spokesman Abdul Raouf Ahmadi said.
No one has publicly claimed responsibility for the attack.
Herat is one of Afghanistan's westernmost provinces, bordered by Turkmenistan to the north and Iran to the west.
