(CNN) -- A bus explosion killed 16 people and injured dozens in northwest Pakistan on Friday, authorities said.
Fatalities included four women and a child.
At least 25 people were wounded in the explosion near Peshawar, said Shafi Ullah, a senior police official in the area.
The bus was taking government employees home after work when the blast hit, according to Ullah.
It was unclear whether passersby were among the victims.
Peshawar is the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
