DALLAS, Texas (CNN) -- Three people were shot in a high-rise office building here Monday morning, an emergency services official said.
A father and son were in stable condition at Parkland Memorial Hospital with wounds to the knee and neck, respectively, said Jason Evans, a spokesman for Dallas Fire-Rescue.
The gunman suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was hospitalized in critical condition, Evans said. It was unclear whether he shot himself or whether responding police officers wounded him, said Lt. Andrew Harvey of the Dallas Police Department.
Investigators believe that the father and son own a financial company with offices on the building's third floor, Harvey said. The suspect had dealings with the two men in the past and appeared to target them, Harvey said.
The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. local time.
One of the victims told police that "he believes he would have been assassinated" if officers had not arrived quickly, Harvey said.
