TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)_ With President Obama weighing his options in Afghanistan, one senatorial hopeful in Kansas is offering his own plan.
Charles Schollenberger wants the U.S. out of central Asian nation by the end of 2012.
In a speech before the Washburn law students Thursday, the Democratic candidate explained why he thinks the U.S. should leave.
According to Schollenberger, America has spent $228 billion so far in Afghanistan and continues to spend $5 billion a month to fund the war; money, he believes would be better spent in America.
He also explained the impact nearly thirty years of constant warfare, since the Soviet invasion of 1979, has impacted the Afghanis.
Scholloenberger said he thinks he's one of the first politicians to call for a full withdrawal.
