PARIS, France (CNN) -- Two French fighter jets crashed in the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday, the French Defense Ministry confirmed.
One pilot has been recovered and the search for the other is ongoing, according to a defense ministry official who declined to give his name.
The official did not say if the pilot who was recovered was alive or dead, or release any details about the crash, which took place about 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the city of Perpignon.
The planes were Rafale fighters, manufactured by Dassault Aviation.
