(CNN) -- A bomb exploded Wednesday outside the office of an opposition Socialist party member, police in Athens, Greece, told CNN.
Anonymous calls were placed to two Greek newspapers before the explosion, alerting them that a bomb had been placed outside the office, Athens police spokesman Takis Petroupoulos said.
The bomb exploded at 11:45 a.m. (4:45 a.m. ET).
"It was a small explosion but it caused a lot of material damages," Petroupoulos said.
No one was hurt in the explosion since police had evacuated the area ahead of time, he said.
