It happened just before 6 pm Sunday on Highway 73 near County Road 33, just northwest of Leavenworth.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Pontiac Sunfire driven by 18-year-old Felicity Crossland drifted to the left. They say Crossland overcorrected, sending the car off the road, through a fence and rolling into a pond.
A passenger, 15-year-old Desirae Crossland, was killed. Felicity Crossland and another passenger, 18-year-old Kelsey Essig, suffered serious injuries.
All three girls were from Atchison. The KHP report indicates all three were wearing seatbelts.
