TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A project at Topeka High School moved into the second phase.

The Peer Mentoring Club is doing a makeover on a special needs classroom.

Wednesday, student volunteers started taking out the room's old cabinets. They will be installing handicap-accessible height cabinets and appliances in the coming weeks. Most of the installation will happen during the school day so students can watch.

New carpet goes in later this month. The group also hopes to get donations or grants to make technology upgrades to the room.
