Woman Critically Hurt In West Kansas House Explosion

A woman in her 50s suffered critical injuries in a house explosion Thursday morning in western Kansas.

FORD, Kan. (WIBW) -- A woman in her 50s suffered critical injuries in a house explosion Thursday morning in western Kansas.

It happened just before 7 a.m. in the 1000 block of Main Street in Ford. Investigators say Annette Mears was in the house alone at the time of the explosion. She was flown to a Wichita hospital for treatment of critical burns. Her current condition is unknown.

The home’s gas and water utilities were reportedly turned on Wednesday.

No other homes were damaged in the explosion. The cause remains under investigation.
