WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE-TV) -- Police are seeking a man in connection to a fatal crash over the weekend in north Wichita that left one person dead and three others hurt.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, officers had received a report that a suspect in a 2007 murder case was in the Old Town area. When police spotted a van matching the description, they tried to pull it over.

Instead, the driver sped away and led officers on a pursuit. Police said the van reached speeds between 60 and 70 miles per hour, and a supervisor decided to call off the chase.

Two minutes later and about a mile and a half away, a collision was reported near 24th and Arkansas. Police said the van collided with another car in the intersection. Two people in the van, a 22-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were injured and remain hospitalized.

In the other car, the 34-year-old woman who was driving was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where she later died. She has been identified as 34-year-old Maria Martinez. Her 39-year-old husband was a passenger in the car, but was not seriously hurt.

Officers are still looking for a man who may have been in the van, 22-year-old Javier S. Rizo. He's described as a Hispanic male, about 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and short black hair.

Rizo was already wanted on two outstanding warrants out of Sedgwick County. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rizo is asked to call the Wichita Police Department Accident Follow-Up Section at (316) 268-4167, or Crime Stoppers at 267-2111.
