Wichita, Kan. (KAKE)-- A Wichita woman was arrested Tuesday, after police say she left her three children in a car while the temperature was 106 degrees.
Around 2:20 p.m. yesterday, a witness became concerned after seeing three young children sitting alone in a car in the 1500 block of South Oliver. The windows were down, but police say the temperature at the time was 106 degrees with a heat index of 110.
After waiting about five minutes, the person called 911. Officers responded and checked on the children that included a one-year-old boy, a three-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl. They took the children inside a nearby building to cool off, and located their mother.
Police arrested the 26-year-old woman for three counts of child endangerment. The children were not hurt and were released to the care of the woman's brother.
