WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) — A Wichita man wasn't hurt after an unsuccessful attempt to stop his car from being stolen.
It happened Thursday morning in the 6400 block of West Hollywood. According to police, a 29-year-old man started his car to warm up and went back inside. He looked out a moment later and saw his car being driven off.
He ran outside and jumped on the hood of his car while the thief continued to drive. About a block into the trip, another car was waiting. A suspect in that car fired a shot into the air, and the victim jumped off the hood and ran. Both cars then drove away.
The victim's car is a navy blue 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with Kansas tag 318-APV. It has 20-inch rims and primer on the passenger side. The second car was described as a gold Mazda.
Police have not located the suspects.
