WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) — Police continue to search for the suspect in a bank robbery that turned into a standoff in southeast Wichita.
The robbery happened just after 10 a.m. at Fidelity Bank, located at 3525 E. Harry near Clifton.
Police say a man robbed the bank, then ran southbound from the building.
Police tracked the suspect using a GPS device that was with the money. Officers tracked the device to a nearby neighborhood in the 1700 block of South Roosevelt. The SWAT team arrived around and a perimeter was set up around a home in the area.
Officers later entered the home and found no one inside. They are now in the 1700 block of South Yale looking for the suspect. They located the GPS device, but not the suspect or the money.
He's described as a black male, six-feet, three inches to six-feet, five inches tall, with a thin build and dark complexion. He was wearing a black ball cap and a t-shirt with Ben Franklin on it.
