WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Three people are dead following an early morning shooting in southeast Wichita.

Shortly after midnight, a woman called 911 from the basement of a home in the 2200 block of South Beech saying someone was shooting a gun upstairs.

When officers arrived minutes later, they surrounded the home. They approached the home, looking in the windows, and saw two people laying on the floor in different parts of the home.

Officers then forced entry and found a man in the master bedroom next to the body of a woman. He was taken into custody.

Another body was found in the hallway of the ground floor.

When officers entered the basement, they found the body of a 20-year-old woman. Her five-month-old son was found unharmed next to her. Police say she called 911 before she was shot.

The 41-year-old man was taken in for questioning, then booked for capital murder. Police recovered one weapon at the scene.

Police identified the woman found dead in the bedroom as 45-year-old Tuyet Huynh, the homeowner. Officers describe the man who was arrested as Huynh's boyfriend.

Her daughter, who was found dead in the basement, was identified as 20-year-old Trinh Pham. The third victim, who was found in the hallway, was Pham's husband, 21-year-old Sean Pham.

Police say the suspect and the victims all lived at the home. Huynh also had another child who lived there, but that she was out of town with other family. The five-month-old boy is now under the care of other family members.

Formal charges could be filed later this week.

There have been 14 homicides in Wichita so far this year. There were 17 homicides last year.
