Gusty, hot winds blew an Arizona blaze out of control Sunday in a forest northwest of Phoenix, overtaking and killing 19 members of an elite fire crew in the deadliest wildfire involving firefighters in the U.S. in decades.
Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema serves Arizona's 9th District. According to Sinema, members of the Westboro Baptist Church want to protest at funerals for the deceased firefighters.
Sinema posted the following on Twitter Tuesday:
Westboro wants 2 protest r firefighter funerals. Not on my watch-I passed this law to protect our lost loved ones. http://t.co/206ALd9RJr— Kyrsten Sinema (@kyrstensinema) July 2, 2013
@DouglasCP our law regulates time place and manner of protest - they can protest, but not interfere with families who are mourning.— Kyrsten Sinema (@kyrstensinema) July 2, 2013
