MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Nearly 1500 people in Manhattan spent part of this cold night without power.
Westar Energy says an equipment failure on a transmission line sent part of the north side of town into the dark just after 6 pm Monday. A total of 1475 customers were affected.
More than half of them were back on within an hour. Westar initially expected the rest would have their power back on by 9 pm. However, they later tweeted that restoration was taking longer than expected for the final 325 who were still off.
