TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - 45 Washburn Rural High School students are heading to Wichita this weekend for a robotics competition.

It's the Warp XX "BEST" robotics competition. BEST stands for Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology.

The students spent five weeks building a robot from top to bottom, including the computer programming. The robot must have a specific task. This year, the robot picks up cargo and transfers it to a bucket.

The competition is aimed at inspiring high school students toward careers in science, engineering and technology.

The competition takes place Saturday at Charles Koch Arena on the Wichita State University campus.
