SACRAMENTO, Ca. (WIBW) - A Fort Hays State and Washburn Law School graduate is facing an embezzlement allegation in California.

After law school, Kevin Manz was a private practice attorney and local musician in Topeka.

He left for a job in Lawrence and moved to Washington D.C. before settling in Sacramento.

The CBS affiliate in Sacramento, KVOR, reports Manz is accused of taking more than $1.3 million from a foundation dedicated to housing elderly citizens.

Several media outlets report Manz funneled money into his private businesses. One report indicates Manz has paid back $300,000 but still owes more than $900,000.

Right now, the case is in civil, and not criminal court.
