TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Walmart has opened a special hiring center so it can fill hundreds of positions for its new location in Topeka. The retail giant plans to hire around 250 associates for the SuperCenter, which is set to open this fall.
“We are excited to bring good jobs with great career opportunities to Topeka,” said Haskew. “I started my career as an hourly associate and look forward to meeting others who can do the same.”
The temporary hiring center, 400 SW 29th St., Suite U, will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also apply online (see link in sidebar). Walmart says it will hire around 250 people for both full- and part-time positions. Most of them will start in September, to help them get ready for the store's grand opening.
Walmart added that it provides benefits to eligible full- and part-time associates. It touts its health and well-being benefits and 401(k) contributions as well as other retirement benefits.
The company said it will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past year, through its Veterans Welcome Home Commitment. (See link for more information) Since Memorial Day 2013, more than 48,000 veterans have been hired across the country - and 750 in Kansas - through the program.
