TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas National Guard Museum hosted members of the country's "Greatest Generation" Friday.
World War II veterans from the 35th Infantry Division visited the museum. Many of the artifacts found in the museum were donated by the veterans who also spearhead fundraising efforts for a museum addition five years ago.
Col. Bob Bloomquist, president of the 35th Infantry Division Association, says it's important to preserve the stories of these true American heroes. He says the museum gives something to show the children and grandchildren so they can understand the sacrifices they made for our country.
Friday's visit was part of the 35th Infantry's Division's annual reunion, which runs through Sunday in Manhattan.
