TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__The 2013 Aaron Douglas Art Fair featured an artist that brought a splash of color to a rather rainy Saturday morning.

Christian artist and Washburn Rural art teacher Michael Mize was naimed the 2013 Aaron Douglas Featured Artist.

In 2009 Mize was selected as a featured artist the Mulvane Museum Gift Shop.

Aaron Douglas Art Fair Chair Michael Allen detailed what made Michael stand out, saying, "We selected Michael because he's a very innovative artist. He chooses from a variety of materials and we liked his bright expressive colors. We also liked that he's a local art teacher."

The Washburn Rural art teacher was certainly surprised by the nomination, saying, "I was just blown away, humbled and honored. All of these focus on my faith of Jesus Christ and on the Bible, and represent conceptional exploration of my faith through these paintings.
