TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Some Topeka kids got out their paintbrushes in hopes of creating a brighter community.
Topeka Mural Project volunteers and kids started their series of murals Saturday at 445 Southeast Golf Park Boulevard.
Local artist Jamie Colon and activist Betty Phelps designed the mural. The project is intended to reduce crime, abate graffiti and build the economic potential of areas that volunteers say need community pride.
Founders of the Topeka Mural Project say they have several upcoming projects. They don't have a date set yet but Meadowbrook Elementary is their next stop to paint.
