TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Harvesters Community Food Network honored those who lost their lives 12 years ago, as well as two local police officers who were killed in the line of duty in December.

Volunteers along with first responders took time to pack BackSnacks for children. The packs are sent home with children over the weekend so they don't go hungry.

The event was part of their National Day of Service.

They also got to go inside emergency responder vehicles parked outside, and tour the Harvesters building.

The hours the volunteers served Wednesday were credited to both Corporal David Gogian and Officer Jeff Atherly.
